Privacy

Last updated 27 September 2026.

Your birth data never leaves your device. The positions, the aspects and your chart are worked out in your browser. There are no accounts and no database of users, so there is nothing here to sell.

The detail follows, because "we take your privacy seriously" is not a fact.

What stays on your device

A few things are kept in your browser's local storage so the app picks up where you left off. None of it is sent anywhere:

Stored What it is
helicalSunSettings Your settings: audio, visuals, quality, tunings.
ava.chart2DVisible, ava.chart2DCollapsed Whether the 2D chart panel is open, and where.
ava.lookup.location The location you typed into Look Up, so you don't retype it.
ava.natalHouseSystem, ava.natalNode The house system and node the Positions list is drawn with (Pro).
ava.chart2DPositionsOpen Whether the Positions list is open.

A birth date and time, if you enter one, stay in the page for that session and in that storage, and are used only to place the planets. Clear site data in your browser, or use File → Reset, and it is gone.

A share link carries the date, the birth time and, if you gave one, the birthplace (its name and coordinates) inside the link itself, which is how it shows the same sky to whoever opens it. That travels because you sent it.

What I measure

Umami, self-hosted on my own server. No analytics company, no advertising or cross-site cookies, nothing that follows you elsewhere.

It records which pages were opened, roughly which country, screen size, and a few product events: a chart generated, a share link used, a Pro card clicked, the performance tier the device reported. Your IP address only derives a rotating anonymous session id and is not stored beside the events.

I cannot look up what a given person did, because there is no person in the data.

What the app requests from elsewhere

The app asks for your browser's location only if you press Look Up's “Use my current location” button. The answer is kept in your browser so you don't have to enter it again, and it is never sent. Otherwise Look Up has you type a city or coordinates. On a phone it reads the orientation sensors while it is open, to drive the camera. Those readings are not recorded or sent.

Offline copy

Installed to a home screen, the app and its data files are cached in your browser so it works offline. That cache is on your device, and clearing site data or uninstalling removes it.

Payment and email

Payments for Pro are handled by Stripe, so card details go to Stripe and never touch my server. An email address given for updates is stored on my own mail server for that alone, and every message carries an unsubscribe link.

Your rights

In the EU/UK the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. I hold almost none: no account to export, and no identifier in the analytics that leads back to you. An email address you gave me can be removed any time, by the unsubscribe link or by asking.

Questions or requests: contact@scalarresonance.org.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

A change that affects you moves the date at the top and is described in the site updates. Old versions are not quietly rewritten.
